Bottom Line

The Delta S26-262L is a great option for its price compared to many others in the market. Even if the most unique feature is the laser beam, there are many other great features like the electric brake, spindle-lock, and all the others in between.

The fact that the device is battery-powered is great because you don’t need to worry about plugging it into a power outlet or buying premixed fuel whenever you have to use it.

However, the dust collection and blade bolt systems could use some extra work.

A miter saw is a saw you go for when you want to make precise crosscuts in the workplace. Like with many other types of saws, there are many brands of miter saws out there.

Our Delta S26-262L review is about one of Delta’s most popular miter saws; S26-262L 10″. One of the few miter saws that come with a laser.

The Delta S26-262L miter saw is a heavy-duty, battery-powered miter saw which is lightweight, easy to use, powerful, and convenient.

This power tools come with many amazing features that we will highlight shortly. Hopefully, you’ll be able to determine if it’s the right miter saw for you.

Features of the Delta S26-262L Miter Saw

Built-in Laser

As stated above, the built-in laser is one of the most unique features of the Delta S26-262L. The laser, which is also battery-powered, can be activated or deactivated with a simple switch on the saw.

The laser beam marks the path on the material before the saw blade cuts through. The laser allows you to get more accurate cuts with the aligning blade. The saw can make Left bevel cuts from 0 to 47 degrees

It also makes the miter saw more convenient for use irrespective of how difficult the task is. With great laser alignment, you don’t need to take extra precautions to get accurate cuts.

Keep in mind that not every miter saw comes with a laser beam because it is a premium feature that only comes with some of the best miter saws in the market. So, the Delta S26-262L offers good value for its price.

Spindle Lock and Electric Brake

The Delta S26-262L comes with an electric brake that stops the machine just a few seconds after you activate it. It’s always important for a miter saw to come with a fast-acting brake in case there is an accident during your project.

The last thing you want is a brake that stops the saw 30 seconds or more after it is triggered. Apart from the electric brake, the Delta S26-262L also has a spindle lock.

The lock is a safety feature that allows you to hold the blade firmly in place while the saw is on.

Before you change the blade, all you have to do is remove the nuts on the spindle, remove the old blade, and install the new one. Not every compound miter saw has a spindle lock so this is a good thing.

Battery-powered and Light Weight

The Delta S26-262L is a battery operated miter saw which produces 120 volts and 1800 watts. So, cutting through things would be easy. The saw can cut through 2×4 and materials without stress and this isn’t something every miter saw within this price range can do.

The saw comes with a 10 inch blade and 15 amp motor which is just perfect for cutting through tough wood. Since it is battery-powered, you can move it from place to place without worrying about nearness to a power outlet. This makes it perfect for outdoor use.

The saw weighs about 25 pounds. While this might be considered heavy for a chainsaw, it’s lightweight for a miter saw and it is considerably sturdy for its weight. You do not need to bolt it down during use. It is also compatible with almost every major miter saw stand out there.

blade

Blade

The Delta S26-262L miter saw comes with a 10-inch long blade that is perfect for its compact size and power. However, it is important to note that the blade bolt is too tight.

So, in some cases, the shaft lock might have difficulty staying in place. Apart from this, the blade isn’t the best for cutting. When you’re trying to cut any material that is more than 2×4, you might be disappointed.

Locking the angles can be tricky at this point. It is also important to note that the control arm isn’t entirely secured and the teeth on the blade are too far apart.

So, even if the Delta S26-262L miter saw has the power for heavy-duty projects, the blade makes it more ideal for small to medium scale projects.

Dust Collection System

Like many other miter saws, the Delta S26-262L comes with a dust collection system that takes in debris and keeps your workplace clean.

However, the dust collection system is a little too small for the miter saw so it doesn’t keep up with dust production during projects. The saw still makes a lot of mess when you cut. You have to keep a dust bag aside while cutting.

You will have to replace the knob to improve the efficiency of the dust collection system.

Delta S26-262L Review The Verdict

Our Delta S26-262L miter saw review shows that it gives you the right value for your money. The compact design, laser beam, and many other great features make it a good saw for DIY projects from small to medium-scale.

With less than $130 you can buy one on Amazon. This makes it an affordable miter saw. There are still some drawbacks like the defective dust collection system, blade, and unsteady handle.

The good news is that the Delta S26-262L miter saw is covered with 3 years warranty. So, if you don’t like the power tool that you get after making a purchase, you can always return it and get something else.
