The Bottom Line

After examining the DeWalt 20V Framing Nail Gun, we can say that the nailer has many great features but we need to consider the cons as well. The small magazine size is discouraging to those who have a lot of work to do. We also need to consider the weight of the nailer. Carrying it may be tiring for those who have a lot of overhead tasks to perform.

DEWALT DCN692M1 Review Introduction

There are many nailers in the market and you cannot buy all of them. This is why we have created this DeWalt 20V Framing Nail Gun review to help you determine if this nailer by DeWalt is suitable for you or not.

The DeWalt DCN692M1 20V Cordless Framing Nailer is a dual-speed nailer which also has many other features that make it better than the other models in the series. We would consider the most prominent of these features in this article and we would also write about the drawbacks of this nailer.

Features of the DeWalt DCN692M1 20V Framing Nailer

Driving Depth Adjustments

Tool-free Driving Depth Adjustments

One of the best features of the DeWalt Framing Nailer is its tool-free driving depth adjustment. This allows you to increase or decrease the depth drive quickly with your thumb. There are eleven favorable positions so you can gauge the depth while you make the necessary adjustments.

The driving depth adjustment is a wheel at the rare end of the tool. Whether you’re trying to drive round head tape nails or clipped head nails, you can drive them in perfectly.

Dual-speed Motor

The DeWalt DCN692M1 20V Framing Nailer has a low and high-speed setting. Depending on what you want to do, you can either use the low or the high setting. The low-speed setting is perfect for driving nails into soft materials. A typical example is driving nails into a pine.

On the other hand, when you want to drive nails into harder materials like LVL and Hardwoods, you will need to use the higher setting. Unfortunately, even the high setting of the nailer is relatively slow compared to the speed of compressor-powered nailers.

Adjustable Rafter Hook

The rafter hook of this product is adjustable and sturdy. When you’re not using the nailer, all you have to do is use the trigger lock as a safety precaution. After this, you can hang the nailer on the wall through the rafter. The rafter can rotate and the length can be increased or reduced depending on what you want.

Stall Release Lever

It’s not unusual for a framing nailer to jam from time to time. However, there is a stall release lever with a jam clearing function. It allows you to reset the drive cycle efficiently without manually pulling the tool apart.

Keep in mind that using the stall release level disables the tool entirely. Before you can use it again, you will have to remove the battery and reinsert it. There is also another option to fix jamming manually.

All you have to do is loosen two screws on the nose piece and one tool on the base. After doing this, you can release the jam. Whenever there is a jam, an indicator light next to the battery indicator light will glow. The automatic dry-fire lockout activates when there are about 7 to 8 nails left in the magazine.

DeWalt 20V Framing Nailer Review The Final Verdict

As you can see from our DeWalt 20V Framing Nailer review, the DeWalt DCN692M1 20V Cordless Framing Nailer is a high-performance battery powered nailer that comes with 3 years limited warranty. It has a magazine capacity of 55 nails, which is rather small compared to others in the industry.

Despite this, it has a lot of useful features that make it a great power tool. While professionals might not have any issues purchasing a nailer that ranges between $629 to $958.52, homeowners may not see the need to spend such a high amount on a nailer when there are cheaper options.

There is also the weight to consider. The device weighs over 7 pounds. This is why it may strain your shoulders when you’re performing overhead tasks.
