Bottom Line

The Freeman PFR2190 review proves that this pneumatic framing nailer is a handy tool with several uses in the workplace ranging from fencing to siding installations and everything in between. There are many great features of the nailer but it isn’t exactly perfect.

A nailer with as many features as the Freeman PFR2190 nailer should not be limited to being compatible with only plastic collated nails. It would also have made more sense if the Freeman PFR2190 nailer had a larger magazine capacity.

Interchangeable Trigger

The Freeman PFR2190 nailer has a trigger that is interchangeable. While you’re working, you may need to switch from a single shot and quick fires. Instead of pausing to make the required adjustments on the machine, all you have to do shift the indicated wheel a little.

For safety reasons, there is no obvious knob on the device. You can also use the device for toe-nailing efficiently thanks to the spike teeth and flat foot.

Perfect Balance Between Mass and Power

The Freeman PFR2190 full head nailer weighs about 8.9 pounds. This is a little heavy when compared to other nailers that weigh half this size. However, when you start shooting with the nailer, you will find out that it has a perfect balance between power and mass.

The strength to weight ratio is just great for woodworking. The ergonomic handle, non-slip grip, and comfortable grip allowing you to use the device for hours without injuring your palms. It isn’t going to slip off your palms no matter how long you hold it.

Anodized, Magnesium Cylinder

If you’re not a professional who uses a nail gun regularly, but you still need it for home improvement once in a while, you need to consider the durability of the product you decide to purchase. There is no wisdom in buying a new nailer every time you have a job to do at home and it doesn’t make any sense to spend thousands of dollars on an expensive nailer.

The Freeman PFR2190 nailer is protected with an anodized aluminium casing. This material is durable allowing the device to last for years without breaking down, especially when you only use it occasionally. The Freeman PFR2190 doesn’t use batteries so it isn’t going to get damaged when you don’t use it.

Two other things that ensure durability are the magazine, which is also made of an anodized aluminium and the oil-less O-ring made of Teflon. Another good thing about using magnesium for the casing is that it is light. This is why it’s not a surprise that almost all the latest nailers in the market are created with magnesium.

No-mar Nose Tip and Depth Adjustment

The tool-free adjustable depth system allows you to work on soft and hard materials alike. You can change the setting to accommodate the texture of the material you’re working on.

Using the Freeman PFR2190 job site nailer, you can shoot 10-12 gauge, 3 ½ inch framing nails while you’re working on your siding installation, fencing, pallet building, etc. The no-mar nose helps to ensure a smooth surface by preventing dents that would have otherwise defaced the work.

360° Adjustable Air Exhaust

There are many mechanisms on the Freeman PFR2190 full head nailer that are meant to help you keep your workspace clean and free of contamination. It’s difficult to work on wood without dealing with debris. With the Freeman PFR2190 nailer, you don’t need to worry about this.

First of all, there is the adjustable air exhaust which takes in all the debris and keeps air away from your face. Secondly, you have the anti-dust air filter and anti-dust cap which ensure that the engine of your nail gun is always free of dust.

Anti-dry Fire Mechanism

This feature is seen as a blessing to some and a curse to others. The anti-dry fire mechanism ensures that the nail gun is protected from internal damage by automatically stopping it when there are 3 to 5 nails left in the magazine. Some people see this as a waste of nails.

Also, reloading your magazine while there are still a few nails left can lead to jamming. However, we recommend that any nailer you buy should have this anti-dry fire mechanism. Sacrificing a few framing nails for the safety and longevity of your nail gun should not be a problem.

As for the jamming of the nails, you can fix this problem by removing all the leftover nails before adding new ones but may spend a little more money when you always do this.

Here’s The Final Verdict On Freeman PFR2190 Review

What did you learn from our Freeman PFR2190 review? Do you have enough information to make an informed decision? What number does the Freeman PFR2190 nailer get on a scale of 1 to 10? Well, considering the numerous useful features like the ergonomic design, depth adjustment mechanism, etc, it scores an 8 out of 10.

Two points were removed because despite all these cool features the nailer still has some drawbacks. If a newer version can fix the noise, increase the magazine capacity from 55 nails to 100, and make it compatible with other nails, it would be ranked as 10 over 10. Overall, it’s still decent for a nailer that costs less than $150.
