Bottom Line

The Makita XRJ05Z 18V LXT Cordless Reciprocating Saw review above shows that it is one of the best handheld woodworking products manufactured by Makita.

Unlike many other reciprocating saws that only have one speed, the XRJ05Z has a variable speed trigger feature that can be adjusted with the trigger.

However, we noticed that the power cuts sometimes when you try to adjust the speed using the trigger. You may need to start all over when this happens.

Also, the price of this XRJ05Z is on the high side. You’ll need about $145 – $150 to purchase one online. For a reciprocating saw that costs this much, you’d expect an orbital control feature. So, not having this feature on the Makita cordless tool is a minus.

Picking the right reciprocating saw will do you a world of good in the long run. Among other things, the right handheld reciprocating saw will last for years with little occasional maintenance.

You also need to consider performance and efficiency. Not every saw out there can be used to get smooth and accurate cuts on a variety of material.

One great reciprocating saw that is designed to last is the Makita XRJ05Z 18V Cordless Recipro saw. The Makita 18v saw has a brushless motor that gives you 2 variable speed options.

As you will see in our Makita XRJ05Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Recipro Saw review, the blade gives you 1¼ inches long strokes per cut so it can cut relatively thick wooden surfaces. The compact and ergonomic design makes it comfortable to use but there are many other things about the saw that make it an ideal choice.

Features Of The Makita XRJ05Z 18V LXT Cordless Reciprocating Saw

Ergonomic Design Increases Efficiency

Gone are the days when woodworkers were forced to use unusually large and heavy tools that were difficult to carry around. These days, the best power tools are ergonomically designed to ensure the customer’s comfort.

The Makita 18V Cordless Reciprocating Saw has all the features of an ergonomically designed power tool. It is lightweight at around 8 pounds so carrying it around and using it for overhead tasks would be extremely easy.

You will not strain your shoulders or wrists in the process. This is one thing that sets it apart from its predecessor which is about 2 pounds heavier. Apart from the lightweight, the handle is designed with comfort in view.

It is a D-shaped handle that has a 2-finger trigger. Despite the lightweight of the Makita 18V LXT Cordless Recipro Saw, it has a commendable vibration control feature.

Great Vibration Control For More Precision and Comfort

As stated above, the vibration control feature of the device is one of its most ergonomic features. With little to no vibration, you’re going to maintain full control of the device while you cut.

Your palms aren’t going to get red when you’re using the saw because you’ll hardly feel the vibration. The primary thing that promotes this anti-vibration is the crank mechanism.

While a heavier saw with a crank mechanism will have better vibration control, the Makita XRJ05Z 18V Cordless Reciprocating Saw isn’t bad at all.

Apart from the comfort, you’ll enjoy when you’re using the saw, the anti-vibration feature allows you to get accurate cuts because your hand isn’t going to shake and the tool less blade isn’t going to lose alignment no matter the texture of the material.

6 inch 6tpi recipro saw blade

6″ 6TPI Recipro Saw Blade (723054-A-1)

The blade that comes with the XRJ05Z saw is made of the best quality. It is a 6″ 6TPI recipro blade that is made of high-quality steel. The steel is rust-resistant and it’s hardly ever going to chip.

There is a strong blade lock system that keeps the saw firmly attached to the blade when it’s in use. So, you don’t need to worry about the blade falling off automatically when you’re trying to cut wood. The blade change is easy despite the clamp on the device.

All you have to do is put the blade into the slot and lock it in place. It’s going to remain in place until you twist the lock on the shaft. Right after you remove the blade, it automatically opens up to receive the new blade.

The new blade is subsequently locked in automatically. Everything can be done with one hand within a few minutes.

Brushless Motor Gives you Enough Power

The Makita 18v saw has a 4 Amp brushless motor that is battery-powered. Instead of using a cord that limits your flexibility in the workplace, all you need to power the motor is a pair of 18-volt LXT batteries.

These batteries don’t come with the package and neither does the charger. You will have to buy these two parts separately if you want to use the saw.

This makes the overall cost of purchase a little too high. When you finish using the XRJ05Z saw, all you have to do is clean it and hang it on the wall using the rafter hook. The LED light on the device gives you more lightning when you need it.

Makita XRJ05Z 18V LXT Cordless Reciprocating Saw Review The Verdict

Our Makita XRJ05Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Recipro Saw review above shows that it is a great product for anyone thinking of buying an amazing, lightweight and powerful handheld power tool for woodworking projects.

It has a strong 4 Amp motor which is perfect for the size and weight and it is battery-powered for flexibility.

However, there is no orbital control switch on the device as you’d expect from a reciprocating saw that costs between $140 and $150 on Amazon.
