The Wen 3962 10-inch Band Saw is an Affordable Band Saw With Dual Speed and a Powerful Motor
What We Like
- Wide table for ample workspace
- Dual speed option for versatility
- 72 inches blade for ripping and resawing
- Rip fence and a miter gauge for accuracy
- Removable stand
What We Don’t Like
- The motor doesn’t produce enough power
- Adjustments can be tricky
- One-sided bevel
As you can see from our WEN 3962 10-Inch Band Saw review, it has many great features. The removable stand can be used when you don’t want to use the band saw on a bench.
However, it is an open stand instead of an enclosed one. Enclosed stands are usually more stable on the floor and they leave room for storage beneath the band saw compared to open stands.
It’s also vital to note that the motor on the WEN 3962 is not powerful enough for professional woodworkers since it is just a 3.5 amp motor with a maximum speed of 2620 FPM.
Also, the adjustments can get a little tricky for first time users who don’t have a lot of experience with band saws.
Every woodworker knows that the importance of a band saw can never be overemphasized. Band saws are primarily used to make curved cuts on lumber and other tough materials.
This is why you’ll hardly ever find a workshop without this tool. However, not all are the same. Some are more powerful and reliable than others.
The WEN 3962 10-Inch Band Saw is one of the best in the market. It also happens to be one of the most affordable tools for homeowners.
Unlike other cheap band saws, the WEN 3962 has a host of amazing features that we will discuss in our review.

Features of the WEN 3962 10-Inch Two-Speed Band Saw
Miter Gauge and Rip Fence For Precision
Precision is one of the most important factors you should consider when you’re trying to purchase a band saw.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional woodworker or a homeowner who loves to get handy with a tool. Two features that contribute to precision are the rip fence and miter gauge.
While these features are important, not every band saw comes with them. The WEN 3962 10-Inch Band Saw has a miter gauge and rips fence.
It comes with an adjustable miter bar. This comes in handy when you want to make angled cuts. All you have to do is align the head to achieve the angle you’re trying to get.
It is the miter gauge that allows you to get 45 degrees angle cuts without stress. When you want to make straight cuts, the rip fence will support the material in question.
Wide Table for Ample Workspace
The table on the WEN 3962 10-Inch Band Saw is wide with a dimension of 14-⅛ inches x 12-½ inches. This gives you enough space to work with wide materials without stress.
Despite the size of the saw, it tilts to the right for bevel cuts and it doesn’t wobble even when you place a heavy item on it.
However, it is important to note that the WEN 3962 only tilts to the right. When you’re trying to get a 6 inches deep cut, you can get 45 degrees.
The fact that it only tilts to one direction is discouraging since the best band saws tilt to the left and right making them more ideal for angled cuts from any side.
Dual Speed Motor for Versatility
Professionals who use the band saw for commercial purposes will prefer to buy one with a bigger motor.
The motor can only cut 9¾ inches wide and 6 inches deep. One good thing about the motor is the dual speed feature.
Many band saws in the same price range as the WEN 3962 have just one-speed setting.
The WEN 3962 10-Inch Band Saw, on the other hand, allows you to choose between 1520 and 2620 FPM depending on what you intend to achieve.
The motor powers the 72-inches long blade perfectly, so you don’t need to worry about that. It is strong enough for the job it was created to perform.
When the blade cuts the material, all the debris is sent directly into the dust bag that comes with the saw.

Affordable Price and Removable Stand
Another amazing feature of the WEN 3962 10-Inch Band Saw is the removable stand. It is removable because it is optional.
You can decide to use the four-legged stand when you don’t want to use a bench. The stand helps to minimize the risk of kickback and it weighs enough to keep the band saw sturdy and stable on the floor.
The base is wide and solid so your cuts will always be straight or angled depending on your aim.
The WEN 3962 10-Inch Band Saw costs between $250 to $300. Because some band saws cost as much as $2000, buying one for as little as $300 is great.

WEN 3962 10-Inch Band Saw Review The Verdict
Our review shows that it is one of the most affordable band saws out there. The steel structure makes it durable and sturdy.
The wide cast iron table provides you with all the space you need to work with wide materials while the rip fence and miter saw ensure accuracy.
However, it would have made more sense if the bevel range was to the right and left instead of just one side. The Left and right bevel range offers more flexibility and accuracy.
Also, the adjustments can be tricky for beginners. The motor produces only enough power for small to medium-scale projects so it isn’t the best product for professionals that handle industrial-sized projects that require heavy power.
